To begin with, I will let you know that I am EXTREMELY biased to what I consider to be good films. None of that artsy-fartsy shit. Who gives a damn if it will win an academy award. Simply put, is the film worth watching.

If you thought you were going somewhere else, you may go back NOW!

* ratings are from 1 to 5 and anywhere in between. A ***** means that I would actually pay to see this film a second time. Anything less and I'm waiting for video on this one to see it a second time.

This time's reviews:

Movie #1 - Star Trek: Insurrection

Movie #2 - Bug's Life

Movie #3 - Antz

Movie #4 - Small Soldiers

Movie #5 - Dr Doolittle

Star Trek: Insurrection - ****1/2

Jonathon Frakes Directs and Produces. If you've seen intreview of the actor, this should scare you. Alot! Surprise, he pulled it off. Insurrection is a great adventure. Most people I talked to consider it an extended episode of TNG, but isn't that what we want anyway? Even non-Trek fans will be able to follow the storyline. Trek fans must see, others, you'll enjoy it. Return to Movie List

Bug's Life - ****1/2

The Pixar follow up to Toy Story doesn't disappoint. This film is cute and well done. Good story, follows the rules for filming for kids. I loved it. Also, stay for the credits. You will kick yourself if you don't. Pixar should be awarded for their after film escapades as much as for the film. I probably laughed as much through the credits as in the whole film. Antz - ****

This is not a kids film. This is an adults film made with kids characters. Funny, witty and moving all the time, the film never really slowed down for me. It was entertaining and a lot of fun trying to guess who all the actor's voices were. A must see. Return to Movie List

Small Soldiers - ***1/2

If you are beginning to see a pattern that I like movies that are supposed to be for kids, then you're right. This one seemed to have it all going for it (of course excluding the fact that Tommy Lee Jones was in it) and it didn't fall too short. Lots of good action and the characters were interesting. I especially liked Frank Langellas voiceings for Archer, the leader of the good guys in the movie. Also, for anyone wanting to see Kirsten Dunst continue to grow up, you get more of it here. Man is she getting cute! This one's worth the watch. Return to Movie List

Dr. Doolittle - ****1/2

Now on video.

Everyone told me I would hate this movie because it was another Eddie Murphy film. "Hey", I said, "it's also a Disney." (And you unknowing saps didn't understand why Eddie would work for rate on Mulan.) The movie was great. Right fro the beginning the film set a comedic tone. I laughed most of the way through the film. I loved trying to figure out who all the voices were (Ellen was easy, but Jenna Elfman wasn't). I even enjoyed Chris Rock (a guy who should have been murdered years ago by quality TV viewers.) This was even suitable for kids which I didn't truly expect. This is a must see. Even at big screen prices, this one was worth it. Return to Movie List
