Please make it stop, I want to go home!
Honestly, I have no idea where to begin talking about TV. I spend way too much time watching it, or recording it and watching it later. The problem is, there is so much good on right now, and TV is so fleeting. Good shows are cancelled all the time, even ones that keep getting better (CBS' Space Rangers) and absolute drivel is kept on forever (Seinfeld!).
Some of the best new stuff is coming from Fox and the other lesser named (notice I didn't say smaller, since most are not) networks. I will continue adding to this page, so keep watching.
Without a doubt, the funniest show (new or otherwise) on television. This Fox smash hit is on Sunday nights and is great. This is what most of us felt like growing up inthe standard disfunctional family of today (notice I said disfunctional and not nuclear - that went out in the 50's.) Characters are great - the mother not only looking hot but also being the best character on the show. This is a MUST WATCH!
Bad news, this show is on Showtime for new shows, but good news - it is in syndication in some markets. This show continues where the movie left off and really goes forward. They've created a fantastic mythology to go with it. If you haven't seen it, we actually got Showtime and are paying the outrageous extra costs for this show mainly and also for...
A real surprise for me is how much I actually like this show. The writing has been tremendous and the acting is not too bad to go along with it. This is a nice mix of thriller and action. There are a lot of space plots and a few horror plots. They also do a nice job of tying the disconnected stories together every so often. Great work on this show and hopefully it will soon get the credit it is due. If you watch the XFiles drivel and enjoy it, get your brain out of the freezer and come to a show that's actually worth the praise XFiles is getting. Good writing and good stories, not just Gillian Anderson wiggling around. Similiar to SG1, New shows on Showtime, syndicated seasons in some markets.
Alright, Fox's best animated series has had a bumpy go of it. On for a few weeks, off for a few months and then back again. Due to restart on March 7 Tuesday, this show is for people like me who watch too much TV. The show has so many in jokes about old TV shows that it actually loses my wife sometimes, but not yet for me. I love it and I laugh at it all the time. You will too.
Did I or did I not tell you, Fox has most of the best shows on TV right now. This one is exactly what it says, a total play on the 1970's. Great considering the buying populace for television is in the age range that went to school in the 70's (yep, includes yours truly). I swear I know every character on the show. Funny and intelligent, and Eric's sister, Yeow - They didn't look that good in the 70's.
Okay, give CBS credit. They are starting to get some hits on their hands. I didn't have time to mention the Monday comedies here, which I watch religiously, but I've got to mention this show. Basically, it has been billed as the Fat Jackie Chan show. It's got all the stunts and silly sight gags of JC movies, but it also has an on going story that is just well enough written to be worth watching each week. But once it's over, shut off your TV because the next two hours are Walker and Walker spinoffs and man do they STINK!
